HOUSTON- The Texas Southern Lady Tigers Volleyball came into their match with Prairie View A&M riding a two match winning streak. During a match that was tabbed Breast Cancer Awareness night TSU claimed a 3-1 win over PVAMU in what was nothing short of a thriller in the HPE Arena.

The Lady Tigers had a great start in the beginning of the first set with a great cohesive effort by the team on both sides of the ball. Toward the end of the set, the Lady Tigers tied up the set at 18. Despite the great effort, Texas Southern lost the set 22-25.

The momentum of the second set went in the Lady Tigers favor early in the set when Prairie View called for a timeout after a kill by outside hitter Jada Hall who would finish the night with eight kills.

Prairie View A&M stormed back and closed the lead to two, but two great offensive plays by Hall and junior setter Breyanna York gave the Lady Tigers a set point advantage. Outside hitter Kirby Anderson delivered an uncontested kill to win the set 25-22.

Going into the third set 1-1, the Lady Tigers sensed the importance of the moment and they capitalized with precise execution. At this point in the game, Texas Southern gained momentum and everyone contributed well on both sides of the ball with great saves by sophomore defensive specialist Jordan Brown and freshman libero Alexis Praytor. TSU closed the set with a critical kill to win the set 25-14.

The momentum from the second and third set carried over as Texas Southern scored six unanswered points showing the breakdown of Prairie View's defense. April Brown provided Texas Southern with back-to-back blocks finishing the night with four.

Prairie View A&M stormed back and cut the lead to two, but Anderson sealed the night with an
unanswered kill winning the set 25-23 in TSU's favor.

The Texas Southern Lady Tigers will now get set to travel on the road to face at Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Sunday, October 7th at 4:30 pm.
