Lady Tigers fall short in season opener to Tulane

NEW ORLEANS, La.- The Texas Southern Lady Tigers lost a hard fought 62-56 decision to Tulane in what was the season opener for both programs.
TSU trailed 26-24 going into the break but the Lady Tigers clawed their way back into the game in the second half with several key buckets. Texas Southern outscored Tulane 19-17 in the fourth quarter but fell short of claiming a comeback victory.
For the game Texas Southern shot 40.4 percent from the field while Tulane shot 58.5 percent overall. Oilvia Cunningham led TSU in scoring with 14 points while Niya Mitchell chipped in 13 points and five rebounds. Marquia Turner and Isis Lane tallied 13 and 10 points respectively.
The Lady Tigers will now get set to host their home opener on Sunday, Nov. 10 at the HPE Arena at 2:00 pm.
