BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Texas Southern University redshirt junior wide receiver Tren'Davian Dickson and senior linebacker Julian Marcantel were both named to the 2019 Preseason All-SWAC Second Team. TSU was picked fourth in the SWAC West in a vote by the league's head football coaches and sports information directors.
Dickson finished the 2018 season as the second-leading receiver in the SWAC with 815 yards and was fourth in receptions (46) while tying for fifth with six touchdowns. The Navasota, Texas native averaged 74.1 receiving yards per contest and 17.7 yards per catch. His best contest of the season came against Texas State as he caught seven receptions for 159 yards and two touchdowns. He also had 103 yards versus Alabama State and seven receptions for 87 yards at Prairie View A&M.

Marcantel was TSU's second-leading tackler and ranked fourth in the SWAC with 92 stops and led the team with eight tackles for loss and four interceptions. He had five games with 10-plus tackles including a season-best 13 tackles versus Alabama State and 12 versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Sulphur, La. native was also named SWAC Player of the Week for his performance versus Alabama State.
Under the direction of first-year head coach Clarence McKinney, TSU was picked to finish fourth in the SWAC West. The Tigers finished fourth last season in the division.

The Tigers will hit the practice field officially the first week of August in preparation for their season opener versus Prairie View A&M in the 35th edition of the Labor Day Classic at BBVA Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 31. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. as tickets are on sale online or at the BBVA Stadium Box Office.
