There's not a lot of info on him in normal google searches prior to his time at UTA. Facebook information shows he was connecting with peers, politicians, and students alike, even hosting things like open forums:

Taken from YourHoustonNews:
Lane is very active in the community and holds key positions with Amegy’s Advisory Board, Montgomery County United Way Board (serving as Campaign Chair in 2011-12), The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce, Greater Conroe/Lake Conroe Area Chamber of Commerce, Greater Economic Development Council, and Conroe Regional Medical Center’s Board of Trustees. He was named to the Southern Methodist University Education Policy and Leadership Advisory Board in 2013. He has also shown volunteerism with Montgomery County Homeless Coalition, Montgomery County Women’s Center, Interfaith of The Woodlands, Montgomery County Food Bank, and more.

On paper, initially, he seems like a good fit, not only for the university and staff, but for the students as well. I'll hold more observations for later when I've had the chance to read through everything I need to see.

According to the bio put out by the university He is married, He is a member of Wheeler Ave and His father and late mother in law attended TSU and he played basketball at the juco level so i hope we can check 3 of the bads off the list. I am a republican on some issues like President Obama tying this sexual orientation issue to federal dollars for schools. That is insane and if that is going to a democratic plank i am out. I am with republicans , we have many more problems then where the the probably 1/2 percent of transgender people use the restroom. Most men on the golf course just find a tree. I am going to pray for the success of this President and the board. Let get on board with an positive open mind.

You're a republican .... no comment. smh

I'm hope he hires a whole new staff ... James Ward needs to go to.

That was really my point. We all have different views on things. i was wondering what that has to do with anything.

I wasn't going to say anything until you mentioned that false and irrational propaganda (likely from Fox (Faux) News) about Obama. Now what that had to do with the topic at hand ... nothing.

Any schedule or news of the new president coming on campus.
Nothing yet. I do know that at minimum Dr. Lane has to wait 21 days before he can be named the next President. They'll negotiate pay/benefits during that timeframe. Rudley planned to step down in August, so I'm not sure if there will be a transition period during that time. At the earliest, I'd estimate that he will be on campus mid-June.
