With the addition of transfer Murray, Tigers team to beat in SWAC
2012-13: 17-14 (16-2)
In-conference offense: 1.17 points per possession (1st)
In-conference defense: 0.89 points allowed per possession (2nd)
Texas Southern was the prohibitive SWAC favorite going into 2013-14 in part because important pieces returned from last season's first-place team. After landing West Virginia transfer big man Aaric Murray, though, the Tigers most assuredly are expected to claim the SWAC's lone NCAA tournament berth. The 6-foot-11 Murray was one of the country's best rebounders on both ends of the floor last season and posted solid shooting percentages, to boot. One of the nation's best shot-blockers, Murray will have an uncommonly large body suited to dominate SWAC frontlines.
