The postseason ban on Southern’s athletic programs is indefinite until the NCAA determines that the data on student-athletes’ academic performance submitted by the university is usable.

The NCAA said Thursday that the ongoing process of providing usable data requires that “a significant amount of work be completed before NCAA postseason eligibility can be restored.”

I just don't wanna hear it from the Southern fans about how would've/could've/etc ... I want for us to beat them fair and square and win the conference outright.

They better get their academic house in order or this will effect them for yrs to come!!!

But I just found out, they will still be in the SWAC tournament.  Even though the presidents at each school approved this mess, the SWAC needs new leadership.  That question should've never been presented in the first place.

No other conference to my knowledge has ever done this.  It's bad press, further distorts the image of the SWAC this sports season (lests not forget Grambling football).

They're doing it for the money but at the expense of bad press/faultier image.  Not all money is good money and I feel like the consequences of such decision will prove to be more detrimental than beneficial.

They need to find better and more creative ways to finance the SWAC. Instead of pulling brainless stunts like this ... I want the commissioner gone and some serious changes with the SWAC in-house. Ridiculous!

Yes this is a horrible idea what if SU winds up winning it all and they know they are not allowed to compete in the NCAA's.Two AD voted against this stupid idea!!!!

The furthest advancing eligible team goes on to represent the SWAC's 1 bid:

To clarify, two Presidents voted against the idea...

See this bothers me, I was definitely going to the SWAC Tourney but now I plan to go if TXSU men makes it to the Championship and do not play SU.  And I still might not go if that happens, this whole new concept really annoys me to the point where I'm debating if I should even spend my money supporting this SWAC mess.

This exemption is a one time only deal. Hopefully it doesn't need to happen again

The vote was 8-2 in favor of the rule change, with Jackson State's President Carolyn Meyers and Alabama State's President Gwendolyn Boyd voting against it.
