HOUSTON- The Texas Southern Tigers football team wrapped up spring camp on Saturday with a strong showing on both sides of the ball.
"Defense did a really good job today making plays, and offensively we were able to move the ball," said TSU head coach Michael Haywood. "We felt like at times we lacked leadership on the offensive side of the ball so that's something we'll need to improve on moving forward."

TSU running back Matthew Butler led the Tigers in rushing as he carried the ball six times for 58 yards. Tigers' quarterback Elijah Odum completed 6-of-14 pass attempts for 39 yards and 1 touchdown.

Malik Webb paced the Tigers receiving core hauling in 3 receptions for 32 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Defensively Texas Southern was led by Darrian Theall who recorded a total of 6 stops (4 solo) highlighted by 2.5 tackles for loss and 2 sacks.

Texas Southern will now shift its focus towards the offseason and summer workouts as they prepare to open the season on Saturday, August 26th on the road versus Florida A&M in Tallahassee.
