HOUSTON – Texas Southern renews its crosstown rivalry with Houston Baptist Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at BBVA Compass Stadium. The game will be televised on AT&T SportsNet Southwest and the Tigers Sports Network radio broadcast with Lary "Chattabox" Hale can be heard on KTSU 90.9 FM.
The "Houston Strong Game" features two FCS programs from Houston. Fans who bring a canned food item to donate to area victims of Hurricane Harvey will receive a $5 general admission ticket, with a limit of four per donation.

TSU (0-1) dropped its season opener on the road to Florida A&M, 29-7, on Aug. 26, then the Tigers' Annual Labor Day weekend matchup with Prairie View A&M was postponed until the end of the season due to Hurricane Harvey.
In the loss to the Rattlers, Jay Christophe led the Tigers with 140 passing yards, a touchdown and an interception, while also leading in rushing with 29 yards. DeAndre Angelle had four catches for 70 yards and Darvin Kidsey made three receptions for 49 yards and a touchdown.

The Tigers are led defensively by defensive backs Archie Rice, Sean Jones and Dondre Dobbins.
The Huskies (0-1) fell in their season opener to FBS foe Texas State, 20-11, in San Marcos. Freshman quarterback Bailey Zappe made his debut by completing 21-of-34 passes for 199 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions. Senior running back Terrance Peters rushed 12 times for 51 yards and a touchdown in the first half against the Bobcats, but missed the second half with an injury. Freshman receiver Dennis Houston made seven catches for 73 yards.

HBU won last season's meeting at Husky Stadium, 24-20, on Sept. 10. Austin Watts' eight-yard, fourth-quarter touchdown reception, followed by his 93-yard punt return for a touchdown gave TSU its first lead with 5:53 remaining, but Peters broke free for a 51-yard touchdown run to put HBU ahead for good. Peters rushed for a school-record 155 yards and two touchdowns, while quarterback Tony Dawson went 19-for-27 for 150 yards and a touchdown and also rushed for 46 yards.

The Tigers return to action when they face Alabama A&M to open Southwestern Athletic Conference play on Saturday, September 23 on the road in Huntsville, Alabama.
