HOUSTON- The Texas Southern Tigers football team continued preparation for their season opener versus Florida A&M with their first practice of Fall camp in half pads.
The overall high level of intensity at practice was clearly apparent from the sound of the first whistle.

"I thought overall defensively we were a little bit more physical and aware of assignments," said TSU coach Michael Haywood. "Offensively I think we turned the ball over too much and we didn't practice good ball security."

Haywood and his staff got the opportunity to evaluate several freshmen on the Tigers football team during the closing segments of practice.

"The freshmen period that we have gives us a great opportunity to watch our freshmen compete against each other," said Haywood. "They have a lot of team speed and it's great to see them competing and getting better each day."

The Tigers will hit the practice field for their first afternoon practice on Thursday, August 3 at 3:00 pm at Durley Stadium.
