Football Student-Athletes of the Week Announced

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Four different programs were represented in the Southwestern Athletic Conference’s football student-athletes of the week for October 20.  Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s Benjamin Anderson (Little Rock, Ark./Parkview) picked up his second offensive student-athlete of the week award.  Jarius Moore (Houston, Texas/North Shore) of Texas Southern earned defensive honors, Prairie View A&M’s Johntá Hebert (Baton Rouge, La./Glen Oaks) was named specialist of the week, and Alcorn State’s Jamil Cooks (Denver, Colo./Air Force) earned newcomer honors.

Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week: Benjamin Anderson (Arkansas-Pine Bluff)
Anderson accounted for four of the Golden Lions five touchdowns.  He passed for a career-high 467 yards by completing 27 of 50 attempts with two touchdowns.  He also rushed for two touchdowns on 66 yards for over 530 total yards of offense.

Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week: Jarius Moore (Texas Southern)
Moore had a breakout game against Alcorn State, racking up 13 tackles, including two for a loss and two pass breakups.

Specialist of the Week: Johntá Hebert (Prairie View)
Hebert returned the opening kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown in the Panthers 52-19 win at Mississippi Valley State.  He also had a 53-yard return.  Hebert averaged 74 yards per return.

Newcomers of the Week: Jamil Cooks (Alcorn State)
Cooks recorded six tackles, four solo, in the Braves 40-25 win over Texas Southern.  He also racked up a game-high 3.5 sacks and a quarterback hurry.
