HOUSTON – The Texas Southern Lady Tigers softball team split with the University of Houston-Victoria on Wednesday. Both of the games played were highly contested as Texas Southern went head to head with UHV throughout the course of the doubleheader.

The Lady Tigers won the opening game of the doubleheader 4-3 before dropping a highly contested second game 8-7. Rebecca Villareal picked up the win during game one. Tomasina Garza and Fitima Alvizo drove in Texas Southern’s two runs during the winning effort.

Texas Southern tallied four runs off a total of nine hits during the first game. During the second contest of the day TSU got seven runs off ten hits. A Texas Southern rally fell short in game two as they needed just one more run to force extra innings. Shannon Colquitt and Garza each contributed two RBI’s in game two.

TSU will now get set to travel to Hammond, Louisiana to participate in a tournament hosted by Southeastern Louisiana on February 15-17. TSU’s next home game is slated for February 20 against Southeastern Louisiana at 3:00 pm. All Texas Southern home games are played at Memorial Park.
