TSUSports.com: Women's Basketball Announces 2019-20 Schedule

The Texas Southern women's basketball team has announced its 2019-20 schedule which features a home game versus Rice University, a pair of preseason tournaments and eight true road games.
The season kicks off in Edinburg, Texas versus the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley on Thursday, Nov. 7. On Nov. 16, head coach Cynthia Cooper returns to the West Coast for a contest at the University of Oregon followed by a cross country trip to Iowa State on Nov. 19. The team will participate in its first preseason tournament on Friday, Nov. 22 in the Bank of Hawai'i Classic in Honolulu as they'll face Utah to open tourney play before wrapping up with host Hawai'i on Sunday, Nov. 24.

Texas Southern is back in action on Dec. 3 at Colorado before returning home for its lone preseason home game versus Rice University on Saturday, Dec. 7 inside the H&PE Arena. One week later, TSU is back on the West Coast at Gonzaga on Dec. 14 followed by a quick trip down I-10 to New Orleans, La. for the Tulane Classic Dec. 20-21. TSU opens at Tulane on Dec. 20 followed by UAB on Dec. 21.

After taking time off for the holidays, TSU closes out its non-conference schedule back in Texas as they'll meet the University of Texas at Arlington on Dec. 30.

SWAC play kicks off with three consecutive home games as Southern (Jan. 4), Alcorn State (Jan. 4) and Prairie View A&M (Jan. 11) comes to the H&PE Arena. The first road contest is at Jackson State on Saturday, Jan. 18 followed by Grambling State on Monday, Jan. 20. TSU is back at home against Mississippi Valley State (Jan. 25) and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Jan. 27) before wrapping the first half up at Alabama A&M (Feb. 1) and Alabama State (Feb. 3).

Round two has the Tigers traveling to Prairie View A&M on Feb. 8 before returning home to host Jackson State (Feb. 15) and Grambling State (Feb. 17). A trip to the Mississippi Delta awaits TSU the weekend of Feb. 22 and Feb. 24 as they'll face Mississippi Valley State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

TSU will conclude its regular season home schedule the weekend of Feb. 29 as they'll host Alabama A&M and Alabama State on March 2. The regular season comes to a close shortly thereafter with trips to Southern (March 5) and Alcorn State (March 7).

Once again, the first round of SWAC Tournament play is scheduled on the home courts of the top four seeds with the semifinals and final rounds scheduled to begin on Friday, March 13.
