PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Tigers of Texas Southern University continued their weekend dominance at the plate Saturday as the claimed a 23-0 victory at in-state rival Prairie View A&M.

Kamren Dukes had a memorable day for the Tigers, going 5-for-7 with two doubles and seven RBIs. The senior outfielder from Pearland, Texas, became the first TSU player this decade to knock in seven RBIs against an NCAA Division I opponent.

The Tigers (18-22) improved their record in Southwestern Athletic Conference divisional play to 12-4. Prairie View (9-26) saw their record in the SWAC's West Division fall to 5-12.

Aron Solis picked up his team-leading seventh win for the Tigers, as he improved his record to 7-2. Solis scattered three hits over five innings while striking out five batters and not issuing a walk.

Meanwhile, Dukes and his teammates pounded out 24 hits against PV pitching. The Tigers put the game effectively out of reach in the third inning by scoring 12 runs in the frame.

Dukes had one of his two bases-loaded doubles in the game during that third inning. Six of his RBIs came on those two doubles, as he became the first TSU player with seven RBIs in any game since Marquis Curry knocked home seven runs in a 20-4 win over NAIA Huston-Tillotson on Feb. 26, 2013.

For the second game in a row, Dukes needed only one pitch to extend his hitting streak, as he knocked the game's first offering from Tyler Laux into left field for a single. Dukes stretched his hitting streak to 25 games, while he has reached base safely in 32 consecutive contests; the five hits Saturday raised his batting average to .411.

But it wasn't just Dukes hitting the ball well; every spot in TSU's batting order had a player with at least one hit. Four players – Gaudencio Lucca, Christian Sanchez, Jose Camacho, and Keanu Van Kuren – had three hits apiece, while Lucca and Ricky Urbano knocked in three runs.

Even more peculiar about TSU's offensive outburst was that none of TSU's 24 hits left PV's Tankersley Field. The Tigers hit 18 singles and six doubles on Saturday.

TSU also took advantage of nine Prairie View errors during the game. Only 13 of the 24 runs were earned Saturday, with starting pitcher Laux charged for six earned runs of the 15 total he gave up.

With a 22-run advantage after five innings, the Tigers opted to give Solis' arm a rest after throwing fewer than 60 pitches. Fabio Gonzalez and Darius Boykins each pitched scoreless frames to preserve the seven-inning shutout.

The Tigers and Panthers conclude their series Sunday, with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
