TSUSports.com: TSU Women's Track Has Strong Showing At Howie Ryan Invitational

HOUSTON – With the SWAC Indoor Championship several days away, the TSU women's track team made major strides after a strong performance at the Howie Ryan Invitational on Friday.

Nikole Haroon ran a personal indoor best in the 200 as she clocked 25.03 on Friday to finish sixth overall. She also finished sixth in the 400 (56.69) as it marked her second-fastest time of the indoor season. Briana Creeks finished fourth in the 800 with a personal best time of 2:17.09 while Emily Condon also ran a season-best time in the 3,000.

TSU's mile relay "A" team of Creeks, Haroon, Rashel Bonds and Deshawn Petitt ran its fastest-time of the year as they placed second overall in a time of 3:53.

T'Nia Sample posted a personal best mark in the triple jump as her length of 37-8.5 feet was good for eighth overall while Taylor Watson placed fifth in the weight throw (56-00.5). Watson's throw marked the second time this season and the second time in her career she has surpassed the 56-foot mark. Fellow thrower Christelle Nintcheu placed fourth in the shot put after throwing 43-7.25 feet on her final attempt.

The team is back in action Thursday, Feb. 20 and Friday, Feb. 21 at the SWAC Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Ala. at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
