Tigers complete first scrimmage of camp

. @TigerFans fall camp continues. @CoachMHaywood has a QB battle going b/w Jay Christophe & grad. transfer @GlenCuiellette. It's been good for the team & those two are already very tight (as you'll see). Haywood told me Eli Odom, who played QB last yr, is moving to safety @KPRC2 pic.twitter.com/ttRWfrDbyl

HOUSTON- The Texas Southern Tigers Football team held their first scrimmage of preseason training camp on Saturday, August 11th at Alexander Durley Stadium.
The scrimmage provided TSU's coaching staff their first look of the team in game type situations.

Offensively Texas Southern showed some flashes of progress with two big pass plays for scores.

"It felt good to be back out there with the guys," said TSU quarterback Jay Christophe. "We're still working on improving our execution each day we're out here."

Defensively the Tigers we're effective in several spurts during the scrimmage as TSU's front seven provided pressure up front.

"We have a lot of guys who are young and talented on the defensive side of the ball and we have a lot of skilled players returning as well on the offensive side," said TSU quarterback Glen Cuiellette. "We have a lot of leadership on the team this year and that's a great thing to have."

The Tigers held their ninth practice of camp on Monday, August 13th as they continue preparation for their season opener on Saturday, September 1st versus UT-Permian Basin at BBVA Compass Stadium.
