BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Texas Southern was picked to win the SWAC West while six student-athletes earned Preseason All-SWAC Honors as the SWAC announced revealed its 2020 preseason honors.

Led by veteran head coach Worley Barker, the Tigers have won 10 straight divisional championships and three SWAC Tournament titles in the past seven years. The Tigers had five players selected to the first team and one named to the second team.

Earning first team honors were first baseman Lauryn Banks, second baseman Ebony Wiltz, outfielder Zariah Robins, pitchers Destiny Ricks and Naomi Reyes.

Robins led TSU with a .354 average while compiling 23 hits and 12 runs last season. Wiltz batted .295 with 26 hits and 13 runs while Banks finished with 26 hits, 20 RBI and 44 total bases. Reyes finished the 2019 season with a 2.22 ERA and 101 strikeouts followed by Ricks' 57 strikeouts and 2.37 ERA.

Outfielder Terren Vinson was named to the second team as she batted .333 with 34 hits, 22 runs and a team-high 14 walks drawn last year.

The season kicks off Friday, Feb. 7 versus Toledo at 12 p.m. in the H-E-B Classic in San Antonio, Texas.
