CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - TSU softball dropped its final two games of the Islander Classic on Saturday in Corpus Christi, Texas.

NORTH TEXAS 6, TSU 1

North Texas scored five runs over the final four innings to pull away from TSU in a 6-1 victory.

Despite allowing a leadoff triple in the second, TSU was poised to escape the second inning unscathed but a passed ball after a walk allowed UNT to claim a 1-0 lead. UNT added two more runs in the fourth to lead 3-0 via an RBI triple and a sac bunt which led to an RBI. They added another score with two outs in the fifth to lead 4-0 before tacking on runs in the sixth and seventh frames. TSU's lone run came in the seventh as Aubri Ford doubled home Tevanae Tate from first.

TSU finished with four hits while Naomi Reyes dropped to 2-3 on the season mound. Malea Rodriguez also saw action in relief as she recorded two strikeouts.

TEXAS A&M-CORPUS CHRISTI 4, TSU 1

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi scored three runs over the final four innings to hold off TSU in a 4-1 decision.

The Islanders scored first with a solo homer in the bottom of the first and tacked on two more runs in the fourth all with two outs to lead 3-0. TSU would get on the scoreboard in the fifth as Julia Bilbao drew a leadoff walk and scored on Ebony Wiltz's RBI single with the bases loaded. The bases were loaded once again but the rally fell short as TSU grounded out to third to end the inning.

Once again in the sixth, the Islanders responded with two outs as they stole home for a 4-1 lead. The Tigers opened the seventh with a leadoff single and had runners on first and second with one out. Unfortunately, they couldn't capitalize after striking out twice to end the game.

Both Ashling Shahan and Lauryn Banks finished 2-for-3 at the plate. Jasmine Gendorf (0-2) threw 5.2 innings on the mound in addition to a third of an inning from Chelsea Baxter.

TSU is back in action on Tuesday at Houston-Victoria at 2 p.m.
