TSUSports.com: Nintcheu, Sample Capture Titles At Jet Relays

FORT WORTH, Texas - Christelle Nintcheu and T'Nia Sample opened the 2020 outdoor track & field season with a bang as the TSU women's track & field team participated at the Jet Relays in Fort Worth on Saturday.

Nintcheu won the shot put with a career-best throw of 48-6 feet on her second attempt. The senior was heads and shoulders above the field this past weekend as her lowest mark (13.56 meters) was higher than all competitors. She also participated in the discus and claimed her second title of the day after throwing 138-5 feet on her third attempt.

Sample won the triple jump after posting a mark of 38-11.75 feet on her first attempt. The score was a career-best for the sophomore as she also placed second in her flight in the long jump.

Jalecia Smith finished fourth overall in the javelin as she moved up the charts with a throw of 101-4 on her final attempt.

Tatyana Bryant was the second-highest collegiate finisher in the 100 as she ran a personal best in the event. Latevia Adderly placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:09.71 as she won her heat.

TSU's 4x100-meter relay placed fourth with a time of 48.2 while the mile relay of Briana Creeks, Mariah Stewart, Ashlonia John and Zaidra James placed third overall. The distance medley quartet of Creeks, Deshawn Petitt, Stewart and Emily Condon placed second overall.

The team is back in action on March 20-21 at the 69th annual TSU Relays at Durley Stadium.
