• Texas Southern is back on the road for a two-game swing in the Mississippi Delta as they'll open up at Mississippi Valley State Saturday afternoon in Itta Bena, Miss.

• This marks the second year for TSU head coach Johnny Jones. Jones went 24-14 in his inaugural year as head coach with three Power 5 conference wins. TSU fell in the finals of the 2019 SWAC Tournament and competed in the CIT. TSU advanced to the semifinals of the CIT last season.

• The Tigers are on a two-game winning streak and in sole possession of second place. TSU is one game out of first place with six games remaining in the regular season. The Tigers are assured of a SWAC Tournament berth at worst but have higher aspirations to host a first round tourney game and win the regular season title.

• Head coach Johnny Jones is 75-71 all-time in the month of February and 10-2 at TSU.

• Jones is 4-0 lifetime against Mississippi Valley State and 3-0 at TSU.

• Mississippi Valley State is ranked 10th in the SWAC standings with both wins over Alabama A&M. Michael Green leads MVSU with 17.1 points per game and ranks second in the SWAC. Caleb Hunter ranks fourth in the SWAC and sixth in scoring with 14.3 points per game. Brandon Kimble is the top rebounder and fourth in the SWAC with 6.2 per game.

• TSU has won six straight over MVSU dating back to 1-23-17 and also has won 14 of the past 15 games.

Yahuza Rasas has nine double-doubles on the season for the Tigers and averages 10 rebounds in SWAC play. TSU's Eden Ewing is averaging 10.6 points and 5.4 rebounds since the start of SWAC play.

• TSU takes the term "home, sweet home" to heart as the Tigers are 100-23 inside the H&PE Arena since 2008. TSU has won nine-plus games at home every year since the 2010-11 season.

• TSU was picked second in the Southwestern Athletic Conference preseason poll as senior forward Eden Ewing was named to the All-SWAC Preseason First Team. Ewing was granted a sixth year of eligibility in the summer.
