BATON ROUGE, La. – The Lady Tigers of Texas Southern University completed a three-game sweep of Southern after claiming in wins in both games of a Saturday doubleheader.

Texas Southern won Saturday's contests by scores of 2-1 and 5-3.

The Lady Tigers opened the series Friday with an 8-6 victory over the Jaguars. In Friday's that game, the Lady Tigers slammed four home runs – one each from Bilbao, Castro, Madi Marek and Aubri Ford.

With the series sweep, the Lady Tigers (19-22) remained undefeated in Southwestern Athletic Conference play with a 14-0 league record.

TSU will close its regular season this week with a pair of home doubleheaders, beginning with Tuesday's non-conference twinbill against Incarnate Word. First pitch Tuesday is scheduled for 2 p.m.

GAME ONE: Lady Tigers 2, Southern 1
The Lady Tigers plated the game-winning run with two outs in the top of the seventh inning to take Saturday's opening contest.

After Southern pitcher Aubrion James retired the first two batters of the inning, Haley Castro and Terren Vinson drew back-to-back walks to give the Lady Tigers a runner in scoring position. Julia Bilbao then delivered the game-winning RBI with a single up the middle to allow Castro to score.

Destiny Ricks scattered five Southern hits en route to the complete-game victory; she struck out three batters and induced 11 groundball outs in the game. Ricks improved her record to 7-3 as she won her sixth consecutive start.

TSU opened the scoring in the top of third when Terren Vinson stole third base, and then came home when the attempt to throw her out was wild. Southern's Jaslyn Perrodin tied the game in the fifth with an RBI on an infield single.

GAME TWO: Lady Tigers 5, Southern 3
Paige Jackson went three-for-four with four RBIs on three singles to lead the Lady Tigers at the plate in the second game of the day. Her two-run single that scored Ebony Wiltz and Vinson in the top of the seventh gave the Lady Tigers a much-needed cushion as they held off a late rally from Southern.

Vinson also had three hits in the game and scored a pair of runs. Julia Bilbao knocked an RBI triple in the top of the third inning that scored Castro.

Naomi Reyes picked up her second win of the series, pitching six and two-thirds innings while striking out five batters. With a run in and one out in the bottom of the seventh, Bailey Daniels retired the last two batters (one on a sacrifice fly) to earn the save and preserve the TSU victory.
