TSUSports.com: Lady Tigers in Corpus Christi, defeat Utah State with six-run seventh inning

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas Southern split day two action during the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Invitational on Saturday, falling 9-8 in extra innings to Nebraska-Omaha but rebounding in comeback fashion to defeat Utah State 9-8.

Against Omaha, Texas Southern took a 6-5 lead into the final inning before the Mavericks tied things up on a Faith Romero solo home run. In the top of the eighth, Texas Southern pushed ahead 8-6, but Omaha tacked on three runs in its half of the frame to steal the win.

Versus Utah State, Texas Southern went into the seventh down 8-3 to the Aggies. The Lady Tigers scored six runs in the bottom of the inning to win it, capped by a walk-off two-run double from Dominique Tello. Tyra Williams came on in relief of Lauren Rodriguez to earn the win, tossing 2.1 innings and allowing two runs on two hits. Terren Vinson was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
