MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Lady Tigers of Texas Southern University were eliminated from the Southwestern Athletic Conference Softball Tournament after falling to Prairie View A&M 4-3 Saturday.

Dominique Tello's two-RBI double in the bottom of the first inning gave TSU a 2-0 lead, and an RBI single by Sierra Valdez in the third inning briefly reclaimed the lead for the Lady Tigers. PVAMU added two runs in the fifth inning for the final margin of victory.

The elimination from the tournament does not necessarily mean the end of the season for the Lady Tigers (24-18-1), who won their ninth consecutive SWAC West Division title. With the best overall and conference records in the league, an invitation to the second annual National Invitational Softball Championship remains a possibility.

The future looks bright for the Lady Tigers, as two TSU freshmen – Tevanae Tate and Julia Bilbao – were named to the event's All-Tournament Team. Bilbao went 4-for-12 with eight RBIs during the team's four games, which included a six-RBI outburst in TSU's win over Alabama A&M on Wednesday.

Tate went 6-for-15 with a homerun at the tournament.
