HOUSTON — The Texas Southern Lady Tigers kicked off Homecoming Weekend with a statement win, blanking Arkansas–Pine Bluff 3-0 on Friday afternoon at Durley Field.
After a scoreless first half, TSU came alive in the second, lighting up the scoreboard with three goals in under 25 minutes. Clara Dotigny opened the floodgates in the 49th minute with a solo strike. Jacylyn Russ followed with her second goal of the season, assisted by Liliane Clase Baez, whose creativity continues to shine. Defender Melissa Knutson capped the scoring in the 73rd minute, with her first goal of the season, securing the Lady Tigers' fourth conference win.
Texas Southern outshot UAPB 45–1, dominating possession (57%) and keeping the Lady Lions on their heels all afternoon. Goalkeeper Alessandra Bastidas earned her fifth win and third shutout of the season, while TSU's depth and hustle were on full display with contributions from nearly every player on the roster.
Now sitting at 4-1- in SWAC play, the Lady Tigers are building momentum at the right time.
The Lady Tigers return to Durley Field on Sunday at 1 p.m. to face Grambling State in a pivotal SWAC showdown. With Homecoming energy still in the air, TSU will look to keep the vibes high and the wins rolling.
