Football Kicks Off Training Camp Wednesday Morning

The Texas Southern University football team kicked off the 2026 season with its first official practice Wednesday morning inside Durley Stadium.
Third-year head coach Cris Dishman welcomed 100-plus players to the gridiron Wednesday morning as the team executed its practice plan for nearly two hours under the morning sun.TSU returns 30 letterwinners from the 2025 campaign and 10 starters total as the team attempts to post back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 1999 and 2000. The Tigers will spend the next few weeks on chemistry building, install and positional battles as they open the 2026 season on Week 0 against North Carolina Central at Aldine ISD's Thorne Stadium on Aug. 29 at 6 p.m.
TSU was predicted to finish fourth in the SWAC poll, which was voted on by Sports Information Directors and head coaches.
Media wishing to attend practice will need to email Sports Information Director Ryan McGinty ([email protected]) prior to attending in order to verify the team's schedule the following day.
