History



The Texas Southern University baseball team won a weekend series, 2-1 against Prairie View as Nin Burns, ll highlighted game three with a grand slam at Tankersley Field.

TSU 13, PVAMU 3
The Tigers used a big first and third inning to move past the Panthers as Burns, ll led the way going 4-for-5 with four runs and one RBI. CJ Castillo, Shannon Martin, and Michael Goudeau went 2-for-4. Jason Lazo went 2-for-5 with four RBIs.

At the top of the first, Texas Southern came in strong registering four runs on four hits while taking advantage of an error to lead 4-0. The Panthers couldn’t respond at the bottom of three frame as one man was left on base.

After no runs were scored in the second, the Tigers were back in action in the third inning playing six runs on six hits and only leaving one on base. The Panthers were only able to plate one run in each the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings.

Domenic Martinez (3-5) picked up the win in six innings as he struck out four, walked three and gave up two runs. Justin Barnes pitched two relief innings, striking out two and walking two.

PVAMU 8, TSU 6
Texas Southern took advantage of four walks to plate one run at the top of the fourth. TSU added on to the lead in the fifth taking advantage of three hits, two walks, an error and a hit by pitch to score five runs, to lead 6-0.

Three walking Panthers in the bottom of the sixth proved costly as PVAMU cut the deficit, 6-4. Jadin Moreno highlighted the bottom of the seventh inning with a three-run homer to put the game away 8-6.

Jaden Jones led TSU going 3-for-4 with two runs. Tyler Williams registered three RBIs.

Dalton Alford started on the mound, pitching five innings, striking out seven Panthers and walking three. He was also tagged for four runs. Adolf Castillo (1-1) took the loss in 1.2 innings as he walked two and gave up four runs.

Victor Mendoza (2-3) picked up the win for the Panthers in 4.2 innings, striking out five and walking four. He was tagged for two runs.

TSU 17, PVAMU 3
It was a long, but victorious fourth inning for TSU as 13 runs at the top of the frame lifted the Tigers past the Panthers. Burn, ll highlighted the inning with a grand slam as the Tigers registered 10 hits.

CJ Castillo went 4-for-5 and had five RBIs with two runs. Burns, ll went 3-for-5 with six RBIs and two runs. Jonathan Trejo went 2-for-3 with three RBIs with two runs.

Josiah Castro (1-3) picked up the win for the Tigers, pitching four innings while walking two and striking out two. He was tagged for three runs.
