The Texas Southern bowling team concluded the 2021 SWAC regular season in third place after a solid weekend at the SWAC East Round-Up.

TSU finished the first day of action this past Friday with a 3-2 mark as they opened the round-up with a 940-876 win over Alabama State followed by a decisive 802-540 win over Grambling State. The winning streak reached three matches as they knocked off Jackson State 899-791 but dropped a crucial match to Alabama A&M (839-800) followed by a 941-871 loss to Prairie View A&M.

TSU began day two with an 827-610 win over Grambling State but fell to Alabama State in its second match. The Tigers bounced back with a win against Alabama A&M but had a setback as they missed a prime opportunity to move up in the standings as they fell to both Prairie View A&M and Jackson State to close out the round-up.

Despite fielding one of the youngest rosters in the nation, TSU finished with an 11-9 mark in SWAC play and made huge improvements on the lanes from the previous year after finishing fifth in SWAC play. Freshman Evan Smith completed her first SWAC rodeo seventh overall with a 178.4 average followed by fellow freshman Cassie De La Fuente's 174 average (13th overall). Freshman Shyanne Ciesiolka followed with an average of 170.5 while Leanna Martinez and Jennifer Hoang averaged 161.2 and 157.3, respectively.
