NORMAN, Okla. - The Texas Southern Tiger baseball team closed out their series with a loss at No. 16 Oklahoma on Wednesday afternoon.

Oscar Ponce was the only player to garner multiple hits in the game. Victor Bueno, Nic Garza and Dean Salazar each collected one hit to complete the total amount. Roderick Coffee, the hottest player on the team coming into the game, saw his four-game hitting streak end as he finished with a 0-for-2 showing which also included a walk in the top of the second inning.

The team's sole run came in the top of the third when, after a hit-by-pitch from Justin Cooper and a single by Bueno, Ponce drove a base hit up the middle to send the runner on second in for the score.

Starter Paul Kindervater dropped to 0-2 as he threw for 2.2 innings with a pair of strikeouts against the Sooners today. Relievers Jaiden Beck, Jacob Morin, Jesse Garcia and Robert Loza also saw action.

OU would score in six of eight innings played as the damage was done with a three-run second and a five-run eighth frame. In the second, OU logged a two-out RBI triple while the eighth inning saw the Sooners take advantage of an early TSU error to put the game away.

The Tigers will have a day off tomorrow before continuing their road trip to face the Wichita State Shockers in Wichita, Kansas for a three-game series. The first game will be played on Friday, Feb. 21 at 3 p.m., whereas the second and third encounter will happen at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
