NEW ORLEANS, La. - An 11-run first inning set the tone in Texas Southern's road loss at No. 23 Tulane on Tuesday afternoon.

With bases loaded and one out in the first, the Green Wave sent 10 consecutive batters to the plate as eight hit a single or better en route to an early 8-0 lead before the second out. The damage was done with two outs via a three-run homer for an 11-0 margin as TSU never recovered from that point. TSU was forced to make a pitching change with two outs in the first as Tyler Hansen recorded the final out.

After another run by Tulane in the second, the visiting Tigers' (3-11) offense featured two runs and three hits, in which most of the offense occurred in the top of the fourth inning from an Oscar Ponce single to right, a passed ball play committed by Tulane's (10-2) catcher and a Charles Robinson RBI base hit up the middle infield.

The Green Wave would tack on six more runs in the fourth and fifth frames for the final 18-2 outcome as TSU dropped to 0-4 all-time against the Green Wave.

Due to a weather advisory alert, the game's original starting time was pushed back from 6:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. to avoid any possible rain delay.

After a two-day reprieve, the Texas Southern Tigers will head to Grambling, La. for three-game series against conference rival Grambling State University. The first pitch for Friday's opener will be thrown at 6 p.m.
