HOUSTON- The Texas Southern University Men's Basketball team unveiled its 2013-14 scheduled today highlighted by several intriguing non-conference match-ups while also including contest against the Tigers traditional conference foes.
TSU will travel to Atlanta to open up the season competing in the HBCU Tip Off Classic on Nov. 8th to Nov. 10th. The Tigers will then take their show on the road to South Beach as Texas Southern travels to take on Miami and Florida International on Nov. 14th and Nov. 16th respectively.
Texas Southern is then slated to participate in the Legends Classic beginning with an opening round meeting with Texas Tech in Lubbock (Nov. 18). The Tigers subsequently travel to face Stanford (Nov. 21) and Lehigh (Nov. 25) on the road. The Tigers will close out non-conference play with games versus Tulsa (Dec. 4), Cal State-Fullerton (Dec. 15), Temple (Dec. 18), and TCU (Dec. 29).
In complete contrast to last season the Tigers will have the opportunity to play their first three conference games at home in the friendly confines of the H&PE Arena as they host Alcorn State (Jan. 4), Southern (Jan. 6), and Prairie View A&M (Jan. 11).
Some key dates to remember on the Tigers upcoming schedule include conference homes games versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Jan. 25), Grambling State (Feb. 15), Jackson State (Feb. 17), Alabama State (Mar. 1), and Alabama A&M (Mar. 3) which will also mark senior night for the Tigers basketball team.
Prairie View A&M • Jan. 11
In one of the most anticipated games of the season, the Tigers play host to Prairie View A&M on January 11th. With numerous meetings in the all-time series, the Tigers versus Panthers basketball game will surely keep fans entertained. Texas Southern swept the season series last year versus the Prairie View A&M Panthers.
