Texas Southern Football Fall Camp 2014 Information & Practice Times

HOUSTON- The countdown to kick-off has officially begun for the Texas Southern Tigers football team as student-athletes made their way to campus [font=arial, sans-serif]on Monday[/font][font=arial, sans-serif].[/font]

[font=arial, sans-serif]Third year TSU head coach Darrell Asberry is excited for training camp to start as the Tigers get set to open the season against cross-town rival Prairie View A&M on [/font][font=arial, sans-serif]August 31[/font][font=arial, sans-serif] at NRG Stadium.[/font]

[font=arial, sans-serif]"We're excited and ready to get going," said Asberry. "We were able to enjoy a long productive offseason and now it's time for us to start preparing for the upcoming season. We feel really good about the team we're going to put out on the field this year."[/font]

[font=arial, sans-serif]Texas Southern returns a plethora of talent on both sides of the ball. Daveon Porter returns to anchor the Tigers ground attack while fellow teammates quarterback Homer Causey and wide receiver Fred Plummer will look to give the Tigers a competitive advantage in the air.[/font]

[font=arial, sans-serif]On defense Preseason All-SWAC selections Amir Bloom and Brandon Thomas both return to lead the Tigers defensive line and defensive backfield respectively.[/font]

[font=arial, sans-serif]"A lot of our guys have had the opportunities to really grow and mature the past few years," said Asberry. "I think now in year three we'll start to be able to recognize and observe the maturation processes many of our upper classman have gone through since stepping on campus and putting on the Maroon and Grey. We want to be a physical, disciplined football team that plays every down with the same amount of focus and intensity."[/font]
