HOUSTON- On Monday, October 9th, the Texas Southern University Athletics Department received official notification from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) that their probationary period (Oct. 9, 2012 to Oct. 9 2017) has come to a much welcomed conclusion.
"For the entire program the NCAA sanctions and penalties levied against us were devastating," said TSU Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletic Dr. Charles McClelland.

"The football team took the brunt end of the penalties but now that is all behind us with our program being fully restored in membership status. Our overall goal now is to continue to rebuild while graduating our student-athletes and competing for championships."

"As a whole we are thrilled that this period of probationary time has expired," said TSU Senior Associate AD Michael Moleta. "However we will continue to perform at levels that meet or exceed NCAA Membership requirements as we've exemplified over the course of the past five years."
