PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Tigers of Texas Southern University scored early and often Friday en route to an 18-11 victory at Prairie View A&M.

Jose Camacho's first-inning grand slam set the pace for the Tigers (17-22), who improved to 11-4 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play. The Tigers scored 14 runs in the first three innings, and held a double-digit lead for most of the game.

The Panthers (9-25), who have given up 99 runs in their past four games against NCAA Division I opponents, fell to 5-11 in SWAC play.

Camacho's bat was not even TSU's most productive on Friday, as Christian Sanchez went 4-for-5 with two home runs and five RBIs. Sanchez knocked a two-run home run in the second inning to give TSU a 7-0 lead, and then added another two-run blast in the top of the ninth inning as the Tigers went ahead 18-11. He also added a sacrifice fly during a seven-run third inning.

Ricky Urbano went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the Tigers, while Kamren Dukes, Gaudencio Lucca, Trey LeBlanc and Olajide Oloruntimilehin also recorded two hits apiece for TSU. Dukes' double on the first pitch of the game stretched his hitting streak to 24 consecutive games; he has also reached base safely in 31 consecutive contests.

Alex Carrillo picked up his second win of the season for the Tigers after pitching three innings of no-hit relief in the third, fourth, and fifth innings. Derrick Curry took the loss for Prairie View A&M.

The teams return to action Saturday, with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
