BATON ROUGE, La. - Texas Southern's magical postseason run came to an end on Saturday with a 13-6 loss to Rice.
The Tigers got off to a great start as Gerrek Jimenez hit an RBI single to get TSU on board and give the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Later, Christian Sanchez would hit a two RBI single to give Texas Southern a 3-0 lead.
The Tigers added to their lead in the top of the second when Kamren Dukes doubled to left field to drive in a run and Jimenez added another RBI single later in the inning to give TSU a 5-0 lead.
Rice would answer in the bottom of the frame. The Owls scored five runs to even the score at 5-5.
In the fifth, Sanchez hit an RBI single, to help Texas Southern regain a 6-5 advantage.
Rice would score one run in the bottom of the inning, to even the score at 6-6.
The Owls would get six runs in the bottom of the seventh, to pull away and ultimately take the win.
