HOUSTON- The Texas Southern Tigers held on to sole possession of first place in the Southwestern Athletic Conference standings with a convincing 92-61 victory over Mississippi Valley State on Monday.
Texas Southern held only a one point advantage going into the break at 36-35 before outscoring MVSU by thirty points (56-26) in the games' final frame.

"Every game is big for us from this point moving forward," said TSU head coach Mike Davis. "We want to continue to play at a high level heading into the final four games of the regular season."

Texas Southern's Jalan McCloud had a breakout performance for the Maroon and Grey as he racked up 25 points on a 9-of-15 shooting night from the floor.

Trae Jefferson added 17 and Zach Lofton contributed 14 points off the bench as the Tigers had one of their best offensive performances in league action this season.

TSU shot lights out from the field collectively as a team going 33-of-62 good for 53 percent while holding MVSU to shooting just 34 percent (26-of-75).

The Tigers will embark on their final conference road swing of the season this weekend as they travel to face Alabama State and Alabama A&M respectively.
