MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Lady Tigers of Texas Southern University won their two Friday matches at this weekend's Southwestern Athletic Conference Roundup, hosted by Alabama State University.

Texas Southern (11-8, 8-3 SWAC) swept Alcorn State in the morning contest, and then claimed a four-set victory over Alabama A&M in the evening match. The two wins were the sixth and seventh consecutive triumphs for the Lady Tigers.

TSU 3, Alcorn State 0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-17)

The Lady Tigers opened the day just as they did at the September roundup at TSU – by sweeping Alcorn State. TSU got 10 kills from Alexis Austin, who hit .588 on the match. Kirby Anderson put down seven kills and blocked eight attacks. Anderson's seven kills on eight attacks gave her a hitting percentage of .875, topping her previous best of .833 just three days prior against Jarvis Christian.

Cassidy Jannson and Nicole Robinson posted six kills each. Asia Howard dealt 18 assists, and Erin Adams posted 15 digs in the win over the Lady Braves.

Alcorn State (3-32, 0-11) got seven kills from Singryd Valadares. Octavia Dixon and Alondra Rivera Modesto posted five kills each. Brittney Dumas and Jasmine Chambers put up 13 and 11 assists, respectively, and Pai Iosia picked up 11 digs.

TSU 3, Alabama A&M 1 (17-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-18)

The Lady Tigers avenged one of their two losses at last month's roundup with a hard-fought four-set win over Alabama A&M on Friday evening. Kirby Anderson led with 11 kills and seven digs for TSU, and Cassidy Jannson put away 10 kills.

Both of TSU's primary setters tallied double-doubles, with Asia Howard posting 22 assists and 10 digs, in addition to a perfect 1.000-hitting percentage with five kills on five attacks. Meanwhile, freshman Alyssa Chuidian (pictured) recorded her first collegiate double-double with 12 assists and 10 digs.

Courtney Oliver led AAMU with 14 kills. Pride added 13, and Brooks put down 11. Sieck dished out 41 assists and added eight digs. Helena Figueiredo led with 17 digs.
