HOUSTON – The Lady Tigers of Texas Southern University made quick work of Jarvis Christian College as they swept the Bulldogs in three sets Tuesday.

Scores of the match were 25-11, 25-14, and 25-10.

At Texas Southern's H&PE Arena, the Lady Tigers (9-8) showed no signs of rust after a nine-day break, as they needed barely an hour to defeat their NAIA opponents. The win was the fourth consecutive triumph for the Lady Tigers.

Kirby Anderson knocked down five kills on six attempts and tallied seven total blocks to lead the Lady Tigers, who return to Southwestern Athletic Conference play this weekend. Anderson's .833 hitting percentage was the highest average posted by a TSU player in a match this season.

Nicole Robinson put away a team-high six kills for the Lady Tigers, while Nia Stone, Cassidy Jannson, and Alexis Austin tallied four kills apiece. Asia Howard handed out a match-high 11 assists for the Lady Tigers.

The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 7-0 lead in set one and needed little time going ahead in the match. Head coach Jocelyn Adams emptied her bench for set two, and every TSU player on the active roster saw court time for the Lady Tigers in the non-conference match.

Aundrea Boyland, DeSeanna Murphy, and Tiarra Moore put away two kills apiece for Texas Southern, while Alyssa Chuidian and Breyanna York tallied seven assists apiece. Chuidian, Jannson, and Murphy all served two aces apiece Tuesday.

In addition to every player seeing the court for the Lady Tigers on Tuesday, every player recorded at least one dig. Freshman Valencia Grayson led the defensive effort with five digs, followed by Jannson (four digs), and Moore, Murphy, Aryanna Collins, and Brianna McKay (three digs apiece).

Tinikia Lacey led Jarvis Christian College (4-25) with seven kills.

The Lady Tigers head to Montgomery, Ala., this weekend for the SWAC's second Volleyball Roundup. The Lady Tigers will again face all five teams from the league's East Division, starting with Alcorn State (10 a.m.), and Alabama State (7 p.m.) on Friday.
