VICTORIA, Texas – Texas Southern split a roaddoubleheader against Houston–Victoria, falling in game one 3-2 but rebounding to claim a 3-0 shutout in game two.

The Lady Tigers battled UHV tightly early on, with the only score an unearned run in favor of Houston-Victoria. Cecilia Abad hit a RBI single to tie the game in the fourth, but a costly miscue ultimately decided the contest, as a throwing error by Dominique Tello allowed two runs to score.

In the seventh, Madilyn Marek and Marissa Padron executed a double steal, with Padron swiping home to make it 3-2, but a groundout ended the game with TSU stranding two runners.

Tyra Williams got the loss, allowing just three hits and no earned runs. Tello went 2-for-3.

In game.two, Lauren Rodriguez had a dominant outing, throwing a four-hit shutout while striking out 10 hitters. Gisella Paranich started the scoring with a RBI single in the first, and in the seventh Tellow had a RBI single and Terren Vinson scored on a throwing error.

The Lady Tigers return home this weekend when they host Alabama State in Southwestern Athletic Conference play. Friday's game is set for a 3 p.m. start time at Houston's Memorial Park.
