HOUSTON - The Texas Southern Lady Tigers performed in their third meet of the season hosted by Sam Houston State University in Houston, Texas.

Although it was not the intended finish for the Lady Tigers, they managed to uphold tradition and defeated Prairie View A&M University and Southern University.

Team captain Denisyha Waller explained the details to the 900-891 win over Southern saying "The match against Southern was a nail bitter indeed. The match was close and the Southern team was matching each frame with us. It came down to the 10th frame in order to get the win. I doubled in the 10th to relieve pressure on our anchorman Samantha Kriner, and she closed her frame in order to skate past Southern for the win."

Waller continued on the 871-855 win over Prairie View A&M stating, "This win was great especially knowing they are a ranked team and in our conference. Us closing our frames and finishing it in the 10th frame helped pull us through."
"Beating Southern and Prairie View this weekend made a huge statement for the Lady Tigers," added Head Coach Sabrina Duncan Rose. "TSU proved that they are one of the top teams in the SWAC, and it will not be an easy task to beat our girls in the SWAC tournament."

Sophomore Samantha Kriner placed in the top 40 for the Lady Tigers, and had an average score of score of 186.40.

Rose felt great about Samantha's performance stating, "Sam held one of the top averages this weekend for the team, and she continues to be a huge asset to the team. Sam is performing to the best of her ability, and also bringing a dog fight to every match."

"The Lady Tiger's fought in every match this weekend. These big tournaments give our girls the opportunity to face good competition and game experience against the top teams in the NCAA. The team showed a strong performance this weekend, especially in the bracket matches," stated Rose who was pleased with her team's performance.

"I was happy with our overall team morale. We figured out how to get more energized to boost each other up when times are tough", added Waller.

The Lady Tigers are scheduled to participate in the JSU Sonic Invitational this coming weekend, hosted by Jackson State University in Jackson, Miss. on November 10th -12th.
