SAN ANTONIO – Incarnate Word evened its three-game weekend baseball series with Texas Southern after defeating the visiting Tigers 10-1 Saturday afternoon.

Jose Camacho's RBI double in the top of the seventh inning that scored Gaudencio Lucca provided the Tigers' only run in the game. Lucca led the TSU bats by going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles, which pushed his season batting average to .362.

The Tigers fell to 11-19 with the loss, and are now 4-6 against Southland Conference opponents. They defeated Incarnate Word 9-8 on Friday. Incarnate Word improved its record to 20-12.

Aaron Solis started and took the loss for the Tigers, giving up seven runs over four innings. It was only his second loss of the season, as his record now stands at 5-2. UIW's Luke McTaggart pitched a complete game for the Cardinals.

Mason Furlong (pictured) pitched a scoreless inning of relief for the Tigers, striking out two batters and walking one while not giving up a hit. Daniel Vasquez pitched two innings for TSU, and gave up only an unearned run while striking out one batter.

Leadoff hitter Kamren Dukes went 1-for-4 for TSU, getting an infield single in his final at-bat of the day in the eighth inning. In doing so, Dukes has now hit in 15 consecutive games, and 27 of TSU's 30 contests this season; he has also reached base safely in 22 consecutive games for the Tigers.

The Tigers and Cardinals conclude their series Sunday at UIW's Sullivan Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. TSU opens a five-game homestand on Tuesday when they host Huston-Tillotson for a doubleheader at MacGregor Park. The doubleheader is also scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
