BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Lady Tigers of Texas Southern University placed two players on the all-Southwestern Athletic Conference volleyball teams, the league announced Wednesday.

Junior middle blocker Kirby Anderson was named to the All-SWAC First Team, while junior setter Asia Howard was named to the All-SWAC Second Team.

The SWAC's complete list of all-conference honorees can be found here.

Anderson led the SWAC in blocks (113.0, 1.26 per set) and ranked second in the conference with a .357 hitting percentage (204 kills on 400 attempts). She also ranked second in the league in hitting percentage during conference play, hitting .399 (163 kills on 306 attempts).

A transfer from South Carolina State, Anderson ranked second on the Lady Tigers with 204 kills (2.27 per set), and hit .494 (110 kills on 180 attempts) over the course of the team's last 10 matches. She was twice named the SWAC's Newcomer of the Week, and was in the running for the conference's Newcomer of the Year award.

Howard claimed Second Team All-SWAC honors for the second season in a row. She ranked fifth in the SWAC in assists in all matches (525, 5.83 per set) and in conference play (418, 6.53 per set). She recorded 20 or more assists 11 times (and 30 or more four times) during the season.

A product of Killeen, Texas, Howard maintained the highest profile in the SWAC among setters who split time in a 6-2 formation. She handed out career-highs of 37 assists twice this season, and led the Lady Tigers with eight double-doubles.

The pair played a key role in leading the Lady Tigers (14-12) to an 11-7 record and a third-place finish in the SWAC standings. The Lady Tigers open the SWAC Tournament on Friday in Jackson, Miss., when they face No. 6-seed Southern. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m.
