The second round of SWAC play has been a mixed bag for Texas Southern.

There are the double-digit wins the Tigers have been used to in SWAC play. Then, there are the games that are closer than expected.

It must mean March is near.

On the road, TSU handled Mississippi Valley State in a 98-67 win. It's the largest margin of victory for the Tigers this season. They followed up with a close 54-52 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

The Tigers (14-12, 13-1) learned from the road loss to Prairie View A&M in order to handle the final minuets of the Arkansas-Pine Bluff game.

"It wasn't nothing we did," TSU head coach Mike Davis said. "It was everything they did right. You're going to have those games when teams come out and give great effort. Play harder than you at times and make plays."
