CONFERENCE SCHEDULE

SWAC Cross Country Championships
Saturday, October 24,
@ Choctaw Running Trails, Clinton, Miss.

CONFERENCE NEWS AND NOTES:

> Prairie View A&M's men are looking to become the first men's repeat winner since the 2012-2013 Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils.

> Alabama State's women are vying for their fifth-straight conference title, which would tie the 1995-1999 Grambling State women for the second-longest streak of consecutive championship wins in women's cross country. The longest cross country championship streak of any kind belongs to the Jackson State women of 1979-85, where they won seven straight SWAC Cross Country crowns.

> Alcorn State will attempt to win its first cross country title of any kind at the event, as the Braves men are the lone SWAC men's team to have never accomplished the feat. In addition to Alcorn State, Alabama A&M's, Mississippi Valley State's and Texas Southern's respective women's teams are eyeing the first SWAC title in program history.

> Grambling State freshman Hassan Chepkwony and Alabama State senior Paige Rankine were named SWAC Men’s and Women’s Runner of the Week, respectively. For Chepkwony, it is the sixth time this season he has received the honor. It is Rankine’s third such honor of the year.

> If Alabama State senior and 2014 SWAC Women’s Runner of the Year Artrailia LeSane can win the women’s 5K race this Saturday, she will become the first runner since Mississippi Valley State’s Joyce Chumo to win multiple individual titles.
